  Thursday, 18th May- Our online meeting was wonderful! My students presented their song entitled: "April". Our partners presented paintings, crafts, songs , etc .The kids really enjoyed it!! Thank you all for your cooperation!

What’s a Fairy Tale STEM? It’s science, technology, engineering, and math-based solutions that help famous fairy tale characters solve their fairy tale problems! In other words, it’s kids’ opportunity to step into action and use their awesome STEM skills! The premise is simple – every fairy tale is based on a problem or a series of problems. So, fairy tale STEM is an invitation for kids to use their superior modern world knowledge, critical and problem-solving skills, and the supplies from around the house/school to help them conquer fairy tale world problems. STEM Tales are a way to integrate literacy and STEM/STEAM activities. The stories engage the kids, and as they read through the story they are seamlessly led through the Engineering Design Process. The challenge for the etwinners is based on the fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”. My Little Book of BIG Freedoms is a beautiful, inspiring book for everyone, young and old. It explains Human Rights in an immensely child-friendly way without over-simplifying them and taking away their value.  The book has been illustrated by awarding winning writer and illustrator and former Children's Laureate, Chris Riddell. It has been published by Buster Books in partnership with Amnesty International UK, the world's largest human rights organisation. Each double page spread contains a freedom and an illustration to represent it. My students from 7th Primary School of Thebes, Greece   were fascinated by it.  It is stunning. It is important. It should be in every school!

  Recycling in our school - 7th Primary School of Thebes, Greece Sustainability is not just something to learn, it’s something to live. Our whole school approach to sustainability brings together what is taught, how it’s taught, extracurricular activities, teacher training, decision making processes, the physical buildings, the environment, and the wider community. We are a Sustainable School… Our students are growing their own food in school gardens and learning for sustainability in the school grounds. The school is creating awareness by labeling food options in the canteen menu so that students are aware of the environmental impact of their choices. School management have partnered with suppliers, caterers and canteen staff so that food offered is in season and can be locally sourced lowering their own carbon footprint. Students from 7th Primary School of Thebes read the story of the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, Malala Yousafzai, fighting for the right of girls to attend school despite violent attacks. Standing up for Girls’ Rights is told in her own words,  it is told in Malala’s voice, the voice of a young girl. Malala shows us her world in her native Pakistan as she sees it and understands it, providing a window for students living lives so different from hers. She tells of her first-hand experience watching the Taliban in action. The Taliban is against girls learning. She defied the Taliban, was attacked and injured. She speaks up to news stations, writes online under a pseudonym, and gives speeches when possible to speak about how unfair the Taliban treats everyone, especially women.   During this activity for CodeWeek 2022, students from 7th Primary School of Thebes , Greece learned to create secret messages using Morse code. Students tried to write with Morse Code the global goals. The algorithm is very simple. Every character in the English language was substituted by a series of ‘dots’ and ‘dashes’. By learning how to create and send secret Morse code messages students had a basic understanding of what the Morse code is and the way it was used in the Second World War. They discovered the Morse code alphabet in a fun and entertaining way, and had fun coding. In addition, they created the Morse code sounds for each global goal. My 4th graders from the 7th Primary School of Thebes, Greece created their own avatar with pixton , posters with their description and introduced themselves in an interactive way by genial.ly . In addition, they created a quiz where you have to guess whose poster it is . We hope you like it:

  Mindfulness improves attention, concentration, memory, regulation of feelings and behavior, sleep, relationships with others, self-acceptance and self-esteem, and quality of life in children, which has been proven in numerous studies. We applied a mindfulness activity (the rain exercise). We noticed the sensations in our head where they fall "refreshing" drops of rain. This mindfulness activity helped our students wind down and relax. It was a great way for children to become more focused and relaxed from the pressures of school.

What does a world where no one is left behind look like? Does it have healthy food for everyone? 4th grade students of 7th Primary School of Thebes show us by drawing a poster and participating in the United Nation’s contest for the World Food Day.  

 It was a great pleasure for me to attend the first meeting and meet partners from other countries!

  My 4th graders from the 7th Primary School of Thebes Greece  expressed their expectations at the beginning of the project,  by participating in the following Ice breaking activity. They clicked on the Word Cloud link and wrote words that answers the questions:  “What will I do to meet the aims of the 17 Global Goals”, "Which is the main value of all people in the world?" ? We believe it will be a very enjoyable project.
