Class AP3A | Codeweek'22 (ubbu)

Image
My 3rd graders from Class AP3A joined ubbu for Codeweek'22, a portuguese coding platform designed to connect computer science/ thinking to STEAM and learn to solve real life challenges by coding. You can check it out here:  https://pt.ubbu.io/ Why did we choose ubbu? The combination of online and offline activities, the use of programming in students' real lives and the connection with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals make ubbu an ideal tool for linking programming with the classroom and context of daily life. . We will carry on with this project during the school year, once a month, in English Classes with our English Teacher Carla Nunes in collaboration with our ICT Teacher Júlio Diamantino. Programming, designing and building robots, because we learn and have fun at the same time!

Let's send our message by the help of Morse Code | #CodeWeek 2022

Image
During this activity for CodeWeek 2022, students from 7th Primary School of Thebes , Greece learned to create secret messages using Morse code. Students tried to write with Morse Code the global goals. The algorithm is very simple. Every character in the English language was substituted by a series of ‘dots’ and ‘dashes’. By learning how to create and send secret Morse code messages students had a basic understanding of what the Morse code is and the way it was used in the Second World War. They discovered the Morse code alphabet in a fun and entertaining way, and had fun coding. In addition, they created the Morse code sounds for each global goal. In the following interactive application you can hear children's morse code by simply scanning the qr code: Our certification :
